Ashbrook Nursery - where plants come first!

We started as a wholesale nursery growing cut flowers and bedding plants for local shops and garden centres, but over the years we have developed our retail outlet and café.  However, growing quality plants remains at the heart of what we do. We are proud to offer a huge variety of seasonal bedding and patio plants, baskets and planters, and alpine and herbaceous perennials which we grow ourselves. We also stock a good range of trees, shrubs, roses and conifers.

Our aim is to always stock a good selection of varieties across the whole range of garden plants. We have developed a reputation for producing quality filled baskets and planters using a wide range of alpines, grasses and perennials as well as the more traditional patio and bedding plants.
 

Environmental Focus

As we grow much of our own plant material, we can claim to have a much lower ‘carbon footprint’ than most garden centres. One articulated lorry delivery carrying compost, seeds & plug plants, pots & trays allows us to produce plants that would take at least ten lorries to deliver to us fully grown. Also, we grow our plants ‘hard’ – with minimal heat – thereby saving more energy and producing hardy plants that are well able to withstand the rigours of the Scottish climate once planted in your garden.

We harvest rainfall from the roofs of our polytunnels and greenhouse, and compost our  green waste for using on our cut flower beds and allotment.

Your Local Garden Centre & Café

At Ashbrook, we pride ourselves on local home grown or home made produce.  By growing our own plants and cooking and baking our menu in house, not only are we offering a top quality product to you, our customers, we are supporting jobs in the local area.  We source as much as possible locally, whether it is Smokies from Swankie’s, meat from Fleming’s in Arbroath, or shrubs grown in the Tay valley.

Community Spirit

At Ashbrook we believe in engaging with and supporting the local community.

We help local community Garden Associations throughout Angus to source plants for their displays.

We host visits by local Schools, Dundee & Angus college and other youth groups and other social clubs.
 
Each year we fundraise for a charity by hosting events and competitions.   This year, we are raising money for the Lighthouse Kids Clothes bank.
